Mine to Vine

Every September girlfriends from around the northwest gather in Kellogg Idaho for a day of bicycling, laughter and a little bit of wine.  The event begins in Kellogg Idaho at a very civilized hour some time after noon.  From there bikes are loaded on to U-Hauls and participants are chartered up to Mullen Idaho where they are reunited with their bike.  Mullen is home to a number of silver mines and is the starting point for this (aprox) 18 mile bike ride downhill along the trail of the Coeur D'Alenes.

When they return to the base of Silver Mountain in Kellogg they are greeted with a wonderful wine tasting event out on the plaza along with fantastic dinner, music, and auction sponsored by the Kiwanis.  All of the proceeds from the auction go to scholarships.

The fun thing about this event is the number of women who have been making this their girlfriend weekend. The resort lodge has rooms that can accommodate all the girlfriends with suites that have lofts or two bedroom suites that adjoin to other suites making this a perfect place for a girlfriend getaway.  Of course if you wanted a great getaway and still want a little privacy at the end of the day too you can rent your own studio or 1 bedroom suite.  All of the rooms are built as condos and have kitchens and full bathrooms.  Many (maybe all of them - I'm not sure) have washer/dryer set ups in a closet in the room.

Along with the Mine to Vine many girl friends opt to stay over  at the resort to take advantage of the hot tubs and the indoor waterpark located right next to the lodge.

This is the best of all possible girlfriends weekend - a planned activity that is still casual enough to enjoy yourself AND there's wine.

Whether you are in Kellogg for the day or for the weekend, the Mine to Vine is a wine tasting, bike riding extravaganza that you will definitely want to put on your calendar for next year.

Be sure and share your photos on The Women Who Wine Facebook page.

This post was not sponsored (although it might have that sponsory kind of ring to it) I just love this event.  That is all.
